Come and relax in peaceful surroundings of the open living concept of the ‘Taj Mahal’. Your booking includes the entire 3 story studio building on 15 acres of forested footpaths and stunning ocean and mountain views. Perfect for reunions, group getaways and extended weekend escapes, that is steps from the beach. Spend your time in comfort, reading by the wood stove, bird watching, barbecuing local seafood and relaxing in the freshest air imaginable.

Wildlife at Taj Mahal Acres is ever present, with song birds flying about and deer grazing on the edges of the property. We are animal lovers and have made Taj Mahal Acres dog friendly.

Part of the charm of our accommodation is that it is on a small rural island. Denman village has some amenities, mostly arts and crafts with 2 food shops and a gas pump. Come prepared with what you need for your stay, but a tour of the 19 km long island is always recommended.

However you choose to spend your time while staying at Taj Mahal Acres, you’ll surely depart more peaceful than when you arrived.

Enjoy a relaxing vacation in our 1,800 sq. ft. Lindal cedar home on the shores of pristine Buck Lake on Pender Island. Nestled among fir and cedar trees, the 3 bedroom, 2 bath offers panoramic views of the lake, especially beautiful from the the large sunroom that opens to a cozy deck.

Buck Lake is a private reservoir which is stocked with rainbow trout. We have a large dock with a rowboat and kayak for your use. This rural area offers the conveniences of the city in a relaxed and peaceful setting. Amenities on the island include restaurants and galleries, grocery and drug stores, medical services, RCMP, golf and Frisbee golf courses, tennis courts and several specialty coffee and gift stores.
	The interior features open wood beams and skylights. Natural wood finishes combine with vaulted ceilings and skylights to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Home entertainment includes: TV/VCR, radio/CD player, as well as numerous puzzles, games and books. The Pender Islands have the most temperate year-round climate in Canada. Autumn lingers into November and the hummingbirds arrive early in March to a multitude of spring flowers. The lakes are also host to many species of wild birds during the winter season.

The kitchen is fully equipped, including stainless steel cookware, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and large crab pot (for cooking those wonderful Dungeness crabs available direct from the fisherman) as well as a cooler and thermos for those carefree picnics at the beach. Prepare a dinner of fresh salmon, halibut, cod or trout on the propane BBQ on the deck and then relax in front of the propane fireplace in the living room.
	There are 3 bedrooms (queen, double and double/single bunk) and 2-1/2 bathrooms and all linens are provided. Other amenities of this wonderful environment are: a gas fireplace and washer and dryer and a fully equipped kitchen.
The lake affords excellent swimming & fishing. We have 2 kayaks, a rowboat & a canoe for your use. If you can tear yourself away from the lake, there are a myriad of activities to choose from including golf, tennis, hiking, beachcombing, salt-water fishing, whale watching & other eco tours, horseback riding, and Frisbee golf. Enjoy the new Brooks Point conservation area. In the evening pack a picnic or thermos and head for Thieves Bay Marina, a spectacular spot from which to watch the sunset & varied marine activities.

	The name Magic Lake Retreat aptly describes the location and ambience of this comfortable, spacious country home on North Pender Island. Mere metres from the lake and with a private dock, it is the perfect location for a family holiday.
Swimming, boating, and fishing are “right there” for you to enjoy, and the south-facing patio is the ideal place to lounge about and read that stack of books you brought with you.

Wildlife is in abundance on Pender. The small black-tailed deer, prevalent on the island, wander freely through the property at dusk hoping for a tasty morsel of fresh vegetation. At Magic Lake Retreat you won’t have to go far if birding is your pleasure for you’ll be entertained by the many species of birds that frequent the lake and surrounding trees, among them mallards, geese, quail, hummingbirds, even eagles and osprey. Venture to the beaches and the coves and with luck you’ll spot
Orcas, river otters, mink, or seals – and at Roe Lake evidence of the seldom seen beaver.

If all this seems too sedentary and physical activity of a more energetic nature is your passion, there is hiking, kayaking, tennis, golfing on Pender’s beautiful nine-hole course, or tossing a Frisbee at the 27-hole disc golf course just a few minutes walk from Magic Lake Retreat. And at the end of the day, the quiet breezes of the lake and the rowboat beckon. A sunset paddle among the lily pads – paddling slowly and quietly so as not to disturb the waterfowl –, is the perfect way to end your day.
